Gerry is passionate about information security and believes there is an appropriate, tailored information security program for every organization that reduces risk, increases value and supports the business mission. Gerry has worked within the information technology space since 2005, focusing his skill set in 2008 on information security and compliance. He holds a CISSP, CISA, CISM, a Master’s in Computer Science, and a Master’s in Information Assurance. Gerry is working toward a doctorate in Cybersecurity Operations (2019) with research focus on the effectiveness of risk management frameworks within small and medium sized healthcare organizations.
Prior to MUSC, Gerry worked as an information security engineer for Booz Allen Hamilton. In this capacity Gerry supported several fundamentally distinct federal agencies’ information security risk and compliance needs. These areas of exposure included both military and civilian agencies, specifically Veteran’s Affairs, the United States Marine Corps and National Science Foundation. Gerry has extensive experience with the Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA), a federal information security law that intertwines with federal grants and federal agency interfaces.
Steven has been working in Information Technology and Security since 1993 and has performed in a variety of roles, including desktop, server, and network support, technical training and writing, and management. He holds numerous certifications, including the CISSP, GCIH, GSNA, and CCNA. A local actor and playwright, he enjoys developing and delivering Security Awareness narratives to improve end-user security.
Before coming to MUSC, Steven worked for Centurum, a DoD contractor, supporting both operational and development projects for the Army, Navy, and Air Force. He led the Information Assurance program for a software development task force entrusted with the rewrite of a global Air Force flight and cargo tracking system. Prior to 2010, Steven lived and worked in Massachusetts, filling the roles of Vice President of Information Technology and HIPAA Security Officer for Adheris, Inc. and the Privacy Officer role for the parent company, inVentiv Health. He developed and implemented security standards for network, server, and database systems as well as developing a security awareness and training program for the enterprise.
